The Bangladesh Sustainable and Renewable Energy Association (BSREA) participated in the Joint Press Briefing titled “Distributed Renewable Energy: The Future Solar Solution for Bangladesh,” organized by the Economic Reporters’ Forum (ERF) in collaboration with the Distributed Renewable Energy Platform (DREP) at the ERF Auditorium in Dhaka.
The event brought together policymakers, development partners, industry leaders, renewable energy practitioners, and media representatives to discuss the current state, challenges, and future prospects of distributed renewable energy (DRE) in Bangladesh.
BSREA President Mr. Mostafa Al Mahmud attended the programme alongside distinguished guests and stakeholders, reaffirming the association’s commitment to advancing renewable energy through constructive policy dialogue and industry collaboration.
Representing BSREA, Mr. A.S.M. Munir, Company Secretary, delivered a presentation titled “Challenges Faced by EPCs and Industry Actors.” During his presentation, he outlined the key barriers affecting Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) companies and other industry stakeholders, including policy inconsistencies, implementation challenges, financing constraints, and the need for a more supportive business environment to accelerate distributed renewable energy deployment in Bangladesh.
The press briefing also featured presentations by the Centre for Policy Dialogue (CPD), Coastal Livelihood and Environmental Action Network (CLEAN), SOLshare, and ActionAid Bangladesh, followed by an interactive discussion with journalists and stakeholders.
Through its participation, BSREA reiterated the importance of coordinated policy reforms, effective implementation mechanisms, and stronger public-private collaboration to unlock the full potential of distributed renewable energy and support Bangladesh’s clean energy transition.
