A delegation from the Bangladesh Sustainable and Renewable Energy Association (BSREA), led by its President, visited the National Board of Revenue (NBR) to discuss ongoing customs and taxation proposals and policy matters related to Bangladesh’s renewable energy sector.
During the visit, the BSREA delegation held a follow-up meeting with the Honorable Member (Tax) and the First Secretary (Tax Policy) of NBR. The discussion focused on reviewing the existing duty and tax structure applicable to renewable energy equipment and identifying measures that could help create a more investment-friendly environment for the sector.
The meeting provided an opportunity to exchange views on policy support required to accelerate the growth of renewable energy in Bangladesh. Participants discussed the importance of ensuring a competitive fiscal framework, attracting both local and foreign investment, and addressing regulatory challenges that may hinder the expansion of clean energy technologies.
BSREA emphasized that a supportive customs and tax regime is essential for promoting renewable energy adoption, encouraging private sector participation, and achieving the country’s long-term energy transition goals. The Association also highlighted the role of renewable energy in strengthening energy security, generating employment opportunities, and supporting sustainable economic development.
