BSREA Participates in Fifth Bangladesh-China Renewable Energy Forum on Industrial Rooftop Solar

Dhaka, 20 August 2026: The Bangladesh Sustainable and Renewable Energy Association (BSREA) participated in the Fifth Bangladesh-China Renewable Energy Forum, titled “Industrial Rooftop Solar in RMG Sector: Investment Potential for Chinese FDI,” organized by the Centre for Policy Dialogue (CPD).

The forum focused on the significant potential of industrial rooftop solar in Bangladesh’s ready-made garment (RMG) sector and explored opportunities for attracting Chinese foreign direct investment (FDI), financing, technology, and expertise to accelerate the adoption of rooftop solar.

The discussion brought together policymakers, industry representatives, investors, financiers, technology providers, EPC companies, researchers, and other relevant stakeholders to exchange perspectives on the opportunities and challenges associated with scaling up industrial rooftop solar in Bangladesh.

Engr. Zahidul Alam, Senior Vice President of BSREA, participated in the forum as a Distinguished Discussant. He shared valuable insights from the perspective of the renewable energy industry and contributed to discussions on the practical challenges, investment environment, and policy measures required to unlock the full potential of rooftop solar in the RMG sector.

The forum also highlighted the importance of reliable data, appropriate financing mechanisms, supportive policies, and stronger institutional coordination in attracting domestic and foreign investment into Bangladesh’s industrial rooftop solar market.

BSREA believes that industrial rooftop solar can play an important role in supporting the country’s clean energy transition while helping industries improve energy security, reduce their environmental footprint, and remain competitive in the global market.
