BSREA President Participates as Distinguished Discussant at CPD Roundtable on Bangladesh’s Energy Crisis

The Centre for Policy Dialogue (CPD) organised a roundtable discussion titled “Navigating Bangladesh’s Energy Crisis: Immediate Priorities and the Path to a Sustainable Energy Future” on 13 August 2026 at the BRAC Centre Inn Auditorium in Mohakhali, Dhaka. The discussion brought together policymakers, energy experts, industry leaders, researchers, and other stakeholders to exchange views on Bangladesh’s current energy challenges and the way forward towards a sustainable energy future.

The roundtable featured a keynote presentation followed by remarks from a group of distinguished discussants representing different sectors and areas of expertise.

Mr Mostafa Al Mahmud, President of the Bangladesh Sustainable and Renewable Energy Association (BSREA), participated in the discussion as one of the Distinguished Discussants. Representing the renewable energy sector, he joined other experts and industry representatives in the dialogue on the immediate priorities for addressing Bangladesh’s energy crisis and identifying pathways towards a more sustainable energy future.

The event was attended by prominent representatives from the energy and industry sectors, academia, research organisations, and business associations. The programme also included remarks by Mr Iqbal Hassan Mahmood, MP, Honourable Minister, Ministry of Power, Energy and Mineral Resources, Government of Bangladesh, as the Chief Guest.

BSREA’s participation in such policy dialogues reflects its continued engagement with key stakeholders to advocate for the advancement of renewable energy and contribute to discussions on strengthening Bangladesh’s energy security and sustainable energy transition.
