BSREA was honored to participate in the high-level roundtable titled “Corruption by Design, Debt by Default: How Governance Failure Fuels Bangladesh’s Sovereign Risk Trap.”
The event was organized by Change Initiative in partnership with SOAS University of London and held at CIRDAP Auditorium, Dhaka.
Our President, Mostafa Al Mahmud, joined as a Designated Speaker and shared valuable insights on governance challenges, sovereign debt risks, and the structural issues within Bangladesh’s power and energy sector. He emphasized the urgent need for transparency, accountability, and long-term policy consistency to ensure fiscal stability and sustainable growth. He also highlighted the critical role of renewable energy in strengthening energy security while reducing financial and environmental risks.
The roundtable featured distinguished economists and researchers who presented evidence-based analyses on public debt dynamics, mega-infrastructure contracts, and contingent liabilities shaping Bangladesh’s fiscal and governance landscape.
BSREA remains committed to advancing transparent governance, responsible energy financing, and a just transition toward a sustainable and renewable energy future for Bangladesh.
